Mt. Kalatungan-Mt. Wiji Travers Climb Itinerary and details
It seems like TEAM TAMAC will be pushing with its planned Mt. Kalatungan-Mt. Wiji Traverse climb after all. Thus we got on "rushing" our climb preparation. For those joining the climb, here's the proposed itinerary given by MJ Pizzaro of T-REX Bukidnon and modified to suit climbers from Tacurong City/Davao City. Note that itinerary will change depending on the weather condition and availability of transport vehicle. I will add the other climb details soon.
Mt. Kalatungan Traverse- Mt. Wiji Climb
Sitio San Abel, Miarayon, Talakag, Bukidnon
Entry point: Brgy. Mirayon, Talakag
Exit point: Brgy. Mendis, Pangantucan
Days required: 3-4 days
Level: Major climb Level III, Philippines' 6th highest peak
Features:open trails, Mossy forest, multiple "peaks"
Pre Climb Concerns: Transport to the jump-off (Mirayon) and early registration (50php/head) with DENR- PAMB(Capitol Drive Malaybalay)should be pre arranged. Guide fee, "ritual" , materials, proceedings and fees should be included in the team time and funds consideration.
Climbing Cautions: Extreme cold temperature and heavy rains on moonsoon. Waters source limited to two sites (Camp 1 and peak) specially on summer season. Sometimes called "Mt. Kalatunga" by some local mountaineers because the "peak" may not be accessible on certain difficult weather conditions. It's not considered one of the more difficult trails/climbs among Philippine's peaks for nothing.
